Taking underwater photographs is fun, I like doing it. A lot more things to manage while taking underwater photos such as waterproof make up, choosing the right wardrobes, lighting and flash setups, and the most important to me is making the subject(s) to be as comfortable as they can while posing underwater.

For some people, swimming and being underwater is a new thing or maybe even scary for them. That's why before every underwater photo job, I asked the subject(s) are they familiar with the underwater world? If they are it will make the job easier, and if they aren't I should pay more attention and give them extra treatment before D-day. Usually I will ask them to go swimming in the pool weeks before D-day, sometimes I will also join them just to make sure they're comfortable and ready for the photo session. I need to see their face and how they can manage being underwater and posing at the same time.
If you're going to use scuba diving gear, make sure all of your dive gear are well prepared, re-check and double check even if you're only taking photos in shallow pool because malfunction could waste your time if you have to re-assemble your dive gear again.
If you need additional non underwater lighting, make sure all the electricity source, cables, etc are in the safe place and make sure to put the lights in a water free area. You don't wanna be electrocuted while taking photos underwater.
Prepare, check, and double check for leaking on your photography equipments.

| Preview Your Photos With The Clients |
Don't just shoot, take 1 or 2 photos and preview them with your client. It gives you the chance to check whether the water is good or not, its visibility, and how your clients manage themselves underwater. And then, talk to them. Make them comfortable and give them encouraging and supportive talk, it will gain their confidence to pose underwater.

Remember, working underwater can make you and your clients very cold. Always remember to ask them whether they have hypothermia and provide hot tea, snacks, and bath robe if its necessary.
